ip.access wins top UK technology award for innovation and growth

Cambridge, 19 March 2008 – ip.access (http://www.ipaccess.com/), the market leader in picocell and femtocell technologies, was recognised yesterday with a UK technology innovation and growth award from investment research firm Library House, for its success as one of the UK’s fastest growing technology companies.

The UK Technology Innovation and Growth 2008 Awards recognise individuals and organisations that drive the success of the UK's fastest growing technology companies. Award nominations go through an exhaustive assessment process by a broad panel of judges from organisations including PwC, Google, Microsoft, and UK Trade and Investment, as well as Library House. Over the last nine years these awards have become a much sought-after accolade.

The “UK spin-out of the year” from Library House follows a very successful 2007 for ip.access, which saw the company winning a place in both the Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 and the Red Herring Global 100 list of fast growing companies. 

In addition, last year ip.access picked up a number of awards for its Oyster 3G femtocell product – including a Global Mobile award from the GSMA, a “Leading Light” Award from telecoms news and analysis website Light Reading, and also the World Communication Award for “Best Technology Foresight”.

Analysts predict a huge market for femtocells: a recent report from Frost & Sullivan for Western Europe predicts an installed base of 10.7 million femtocells and 21 million users by 2010, growing to 15.8 million femtocells and 39 million users by 2011.

With major network operators around the world trialling the Oyster3G, ip.access is well placed to claim a significant share of this market.
