ADC Partners with ip.access To Deliver a GSM/EDGE Portfolio that Extends to Rural Communities and Other Hard to Reach Areas

OEM Agreement Makes IP Radio Access Network (RAN) Solution a Reality

March 29, 2007 – ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT; http://www.adc.com/), and ip.access, the market leader in cellular picocell technologies, today announced that ADC has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with ip.access Ltd. to deliver an innovative mobile telephony solution for rural/isolated communities, as well as problematic enterprise and macro coverage areas. ADC will be demonstrating this solution at CTIA Wireless 2007 (Booth #4079) in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29.

Under the terms of the agreement, ADC’s new FlexWave™ Base Station System (BSS) will integrate ip.access’ nanoGSM® technology into a self-contained, outdoor hardened, micro GSM base station solution. The FlexWave system delivers standard GSM/EDGE service, but uses IP for backhaul.  This provides a simple and cost-effective enterprise and outdoor solution for rural communities, hotspots and hole-fill in the U.S., Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

The FlexWave BSS, part of ADC’s All-IP Radio Access Network (RAN) solution, allows wireless operators to meet the growing coverage and capacity demands of advanced wireless services, while at the same time containing costs through flexible IP backhaul. Indoor and outdoor base stations are controlled through a common base station controller and a common network management system.  By deploying the FlexWave BSS over an IP network, wireless operators may realize significant OPEX savings, and also protect their investment as the network evolves to a complete end-to-end IP architecture.
