The Oyster 3G Access Controller is a carriergrade platform that controls up to 20,000 femtocells and aggregates them into a single Iu (PS + CS) interface to the core network MSC/SGSN.

Built from industry standard ATCA hardware and SAF-compliant software components, the  Access Controller is the cost-effective and reliable way to achieve high availability in the core of your Femto Access Layer.

The Oyster 3G Access Controller is the standards-based way to connect your femto layer to the 3GPP core network today, with a clear, evolution path for the IMS and pure-SIP future.

It also provides a management link to the Oyster 3G PMA system to support automatic network management features. The Access Controller also contains a Local Maintenance Processor, accessed via an RS232 serial interface and a 10/100 Ethernet interface for local diagnostics and maintenance.
