Femtocell and picocell vendor ip.access was among the winners at this year's Femtocell Industry Awards.

The company picked up an award for femtocell element design and innovation for its nano3G picocell application that supports the 3GPP femtocell standard.

ip.access also picked up the award for its Facebook virtual fridge notes application, which judges thought was an innovative extension to the use of femtocells in the home.

Judges were "extremely impressed" with the high quality of submissions for this year's event, according to chairman of the Femto Forum Simon Saunders.

He said: "The femtocell industry is rapidly evolving as major advances are made in the technology, standards, services and applications - these awards recognise and reward this progress.

"Our congratulations to the winners and to all those who participated."

Meanwhile, system-on-chip (SoC) developer picoChip won an award in the Enabling Technology category, for its optimised SoC that supports 3GPP's new femtocell standard.
