Femtocells to follow nationwide WiMax rollout?

Comcast is set to launch a new mobile WiMax platform, High-Speed 2go, in Portland, Ore.
The new 4G wireless data service brings the company one step closer to its proposed WiMax femtocell rollout, which will support WiMax in-building coverage.
Comcast's new femtocells are not expected to become available until at least 2010, because of the limited adoption of WiMax.
But the new 4G data service, which will be rolled out nationwide, will be bundled with popular phone, internet and television products.
This could see WiMax uptake increase dramatically, which may offer more justification for the WiMax femtocells in the future.
Cathy Avgiris, senior vice-president and general manager for wireless and voice services at Comcast, explained that High-Speed 2go will allow customers to take advantage of the nation's fastest wireless internet.
She said: "Comcast High-Speed 2go now gives consumers the best of both worlds, the fastest fast at home and on the go.
"In today's world, consumers dont want to be disconnected for even a minute and now Comcast provides wired and wireless access a combination consumers won't want to live without."
