Sprint will be the first company to rollout a full commercial launch of 3G femtocells, according to the operator's vice-president of device and technology development.
The announcement comes shortly after rival operator AT&T announced plans to deploy 3G femtocell technology in customers' homes by the end of the year.
However, speaking to Unstrung, vice-president of device and technology development Mathew Oommen suggested that Sprint were going to get in ahead of their competitors.
In particular, Mr Oommen clarified that the Sprint rollout is likely to go further than just trials of 3G femtocells.
He said: "Femtocells have increased customer satisfaction
[We] have consistently seen customers give us positive feedback on coverage and overall experience.
"We believe that from a commercial deployment standpoint, we will still be the leader in commercial 3G deployment."
Sprint's chief service officer Bob Johnson recently underlined the company's commitment to improving the customer experience of what it believes is the US's most reliable 3G network.
He said: " Customers take it seriously that ... [Sprint] ... offers best-in-class devices and applications, a fast and reliable network."
