This year is likely to see femtocells leave a big impression, an expert from ip.access has highlighted.
Speaking to Dow Jones Newswires in a piece published by the Wall Street Journal, the company's chief executive officer, Stephen Mallinson, has noted that certain issues relating to the technology's development have now been overcome.
He told the news provider: "We've been through the downcycle - it's a difficult technology to develop, but the problem-fixing is now done."
Mr Mallinson made his remarks during the Mobile World Congress 2010 event.
The event, which runs until February 18th, is being staged in the Spanish city of Barcelona and is expected to see around 1,300 firms showcase new technological innovations.
Earlier in the month, Cambridge-based ip.access confirmed that its nanoGSM picocell technology is now set to be offered by the French mobile network operator Bouygues Telecom.
The device will be made available to the firm's business customers.
